A difficult semi final awaited the boys as they had to travel away to Allenwood to play Aylmer Geals, a fixture that had never been won in the previous four encounters.

It was Abbey Rangers who started stronger, with an opening point coming from Devan Abbey followed up by a goal and point from Evan Brett within the first 10 minutes.

Aylmer Gaels then got off the mark registering 2 points, before Brody Dunne added 2 points for Abbey Rangers.

In the second quarter the game settled with both teams registering a number of well taken points, Devan Abbey adding 2 points and Paddy Neary adding 1 point to finish the half Abbey Rangers 1-07 Aylmer Gaels 0-06

Against a very strong wind, Abbey Rangers controlled possession in a tense second half through outstanding fielding of the ball from Cillian Reilly and Darragh Murphy in mid field, continuous running from Dan Geoghegan as a third mid fielder and a superb defensive effort from the backs.

A brilliant defensive effort from the goalkeeper Tadhg Perry and the full back line of Rory Nea, Ben O’Connor and Oisìn O’Reilly who battled relentlessly and kept the Aylmer Geals scoring to a minimum of 1-01 for the second half.

Goals came from great link up play from Sam Rainbow to put Kevin Nolan through 10 minutes into the half and a third coming from Alex Conroy from a powerful run down the middle of the Aylmer Gaels defence.

A well deserved point came from Jamie Delaney who had worked tirelessly throughout the game.

A well controlled performance in winning away to Aylmer Gales on a final score of 3-08 to 1-07 saw Abbey Rangers book their place in a highly anticipated local darby final against Monastrevin that will be played on the weekend of 9th - 11th May.
